AFRICA RIKAI PROJECT

In order to inspire people to be truly global citizens, we strive to promote understading towards Africa, both in society as well as in schools. Connecting the many coutries of Africa with Japan, lessening the distance in between through various projects, with unique ideas and approaches.

"Bringing Africa into the classrooms"
As we become more and more interdependant with one another, there is a greater and greater demand throughout the world for education that will nourish global minds in the next generation. We believe that it is of great importance, as citizens of the earth, to sustain peace, protect the environment, and have concern towards the many problems developing countries such as ones in Africa are facing. Africa-rikai project wishes to bring understanding where until now had been far too neglected. Here are some of our major activities at present.

Publishing of teaching materials
Where books on Africa had always been focused upon the negative side, we've made books bringing people into the kichens, the living rooms of Africa. Working with local publishers, we plan to publish the same books not only in Japanese, but also in English, and French.

Projects in Africa
Supporting of children and women to schools, building of "Our school".

Workshops, Seminars
Promoting internatioal understanding, seminars on education towards being global citizens, workshops, introducing African food, fashion, as well as crafts and designs.

Website, Mail magazine
Ideas and information so people can see, know, and act upon, bulding networks in between

Research, and Giving advice
Carrying out surveys on the degree of understanding and advice on possible approach

Alternative trade
Through developing and selling of locally produced goods, raises their quality and making them more available
